Tanning furs

Postby Freckles on Tue Sep 30, 2008 11:14 am

I just read the article on tanning furs. The process seems very easy to complete. Will this same process work on deer hides? My son is an AVID deer hunter. He, as well as myself, have always wanted a tanned deer hide. Just wondering if the process would work on deer as well.?

My computer has been down and have not been able to communicate with anyone!!:( :( Technology...love it some days, not so much others.

I have not done a deer hide yet but I don't see why not. I did a coon and a fox as well as the rabbit hides and they all came out very nice. The coon took a little more working (softening). They are very thick and I didn't flesh it any.

I just copied the article address and sent it o my son. I am sure he will try this as well as my husband. I am SO tired of the deer hides in my freezer!!!
I will let you know how it turns out.

That would be great! Like I said a Coon is the bigest one I have done so far. :)
